The City of Auburn provides service for water, sewer, electricity, garbage and recycling. Find contact information below for services not provided by the City. The following is information you need to make your adjustment to Auburn easier.
A deposit for utility service will be required before service is connected.
Water and electric meters are read around the 26 th of each month. Utility bills are mailed out the first working day of each month and are payable by the 20 th of the month. Bills not paid by the 20 th will be considered delinquent, a penalty added and disconnection proceedings are started.
We do have 4 convenient payment options:
Automatic withdrawal from your checking or savings account.
Drop your payment in the drop box located near the front door of the Community Building .
Mail your payment to the address above.
Pay in person at the City Office.
Homeowners may request a refund of the deposit after 12 consecutive months of on-time payment. Renters may request a refund of one-half the deposit after the same period of time. The remainder will be paid to the renter at such time as you leave town and the final utility bill is paid in full. There is also a $7 nonrefundable fee to connect service and an additional $5 may be deducted from your deposit if the recycling bin is not left at the premises.
Garbage and recycling pickup are every Thursday morning. Recycling must be placed in a recycling bin and all other garbage must be in approved bags that are labeled “City of Auburn ”. Bags may be purchased at Sparky's, Nathan's Flooring or City Hall.
Auburn is pleased to have High-speed internet service. For all phone service, including internet, contact Iowa Telecom toll free at 877/901-4692. Broadband service is available thru Cornbelt Telephone at 712/664-2221. Satellite Service can be obtained by calling Nathan's Flooring at 712/688-8003 or any other satellite service provider. Cable service is provided by TeleServices, Ltd.- 888/508-2946.
The Post Office is located on Hwy 71 downtown Auburn . Mail is delivered to post office boxes only . Please get your box assignment immediately-without a P.O. Box you will not receive your mail. .

All dogs and cats must be licensed by the City. Bring a copy of a current rabies vaccination certificate and the appropriate fee to City Hall to obtain the proper license.
Auburn allows recreational burning as defined by ordinance. Burning of leaves and garbage is prohibited at all times.
